I find it cool that the idea of Regeneration fluctuates through out media. Either through mutations or by magic, they function the same as being a process that heals your wounds and even physical scars, but like most philosophical disadvantages, it heals everything on the outside but not on the inside, scars and wounds may heal, but there are some that will run deeper beyond the understand of one's own peers own understanding.
